Vertical Control with TADs, Clear Aligners, and Surgery

Presentation Overview

Temporary anchorage devices (TADs) offer a practical way to provide anchorage for various types of tooth movement. For instance, TADs and novel appliances can be used to treat challenging cases and control vertical dimensions. In this lecture, treatment outcomes will be discussed using pre- and post- treatment records plus cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT). Nowadays, clear aligners (CAs) are very popular. This presentation will explore how TADs, CAs, orthognathic surgery, and CBCT can be used to facilitate orthodontic diagnosis and treatment planning, treatment simulation, and assessment of skeletal and dental changes.

Three learning objectives:

Discuss clinical applications and biomechanical considerations for TADs, CAs, and orthognathic surgery;

Describe vertical correction with TADs, CAs, and orthognathic surgery;

Discuss diagnosis and treatment planning, treatment implementation and management, and critical analysis and outcome assessments in challenging vertical cases.
